It's "easy" to introduce a new set of numbers into a FM to add a few more variations to aircraft already present in-game. It's quite another thing to model a bomber with multiple stations.

Some folks don't realize but both online and offline the different variations of Spitfires, Yaks, 109s, 190s and the like are important for historical scenarios as well as for balancing online interactions. Quite a bit of value for comparatively little effort.

It's the same sort of comments that we saw when aircraft like the Yak-7B, 1942 or the Yak-9M or the FW190A-6 were added to the game. Adding these didn't take away from getting a new attack aircraft or bomber and that is what is often implied unfortunately. Not sure if that is the case here or not.

Smile 4.10m User Guide

Well done Team Daidalos. Have just finishing reading the guide which is very comprehensive and shows how much work you have all done - no wonder there was a substantial delay.
I particularly like the changes to the QMB and FMB. The FMB selection of group listed objects will be a great time saver.
I can't wait to get my hands on the new Spitfire variant updates - I have a lot mission updating to do with with these better looking and flying Spits.
I am also very happy to see a Dornier bomber finally in the flight sim, even though at this stage it is only AI.
There are many excellent changes that will make all the aircraft more immersive to fly and create more realistic FMB missions.
Hope you can deliver us all a Christmas present very soon?
Happy Christmas to you all.

Well until IL2 came out every flight sim was a Spits and 109s orgie, IL2 was the first enjoyable exception bringing Russian planes to the screen, that you never got to see anywhere else. But now with the patches we are heading in a direction of sims like EAW and simular, Spits and 109 orgies again. Maybe I am just a old pessimistic grump, but you do have sometimes a feeling 99% of the planes that flew during WWII can be dropped under the table as long as there are Spits & 109s.
And yes I am a mainly online flier but I don´t give a hoot for furball flights, they are as interesting as doing the dishes.
In the Pacific theatre there are such big gaps that one can hardly make any realistic missions, at all. We have exactly two Japanese bombers that are flyable, and both are Japanese navy bombers so missions where the army was involved are no goes, unless historical details are of next to no real interest.
Well I am hoping for SoW but not putting my hopes too high, as I expect with SoW another serving of what we have seen with every other flight sim that has reached the market, only with a lot more details.

If you had read my post correctly I never denyied that we had many flyables. But of those many how many are really used on servers? I think if one is optimistic a good 30% you will never see, even though we have them.

I was just stating that the main attention does seem to be going towards the furballers and less towards the mission friends.
But that is just my opinion, and I do believe I may voice it, just like everyone else?

Much probably. We try to make new planes flyable (and some older ones too).
Cannot say, when this will happen though.

Of course that you can voice your opinion, it's just that your opinion and facts doesn't match. If you take a better look at 4.10 plane list you can see that only popular plane there is Spitfire, everything else are bombers and lesser known planes.

"New" Spitfires are new in terms of FM, there are only minor changes in 3d model of some variants which means that only couple of hours were spent on 3d models. Considering importance of the Spitfire in WWII, making some changes in Spitfire family was very efficient in terms of cost/benefit.

For brand new 3d models you need lot more than that. As all members of DT are working on patch in their free time that time is very limited which also limits the number of new 3d models we can make.

That's why we will take any( except planes made by Grumman) 3rd party model done by required standards and include it in game. So if you want plane XXX in game you need to find somebody who will make 3d model.

I know, you will ask why DT don't make XXX. Well, answer is simple, we are working for free in our free time and I think that it should be understandable that we have right to spend our free time on things that are fun for us. If making XXX is not fun for any of DT member that is just a bad luck.
