iirc the radio's used at the time could be tuned to local radio stations, and bomber crews would at times listen to it on long flights (i think the captain/pilot would patch it in from his radio to the intercom system). would be a nice feature to have for some situations

Was it ever solved if RAF pilots could actually tune their radio-sets to listen to music? I thought it was a bit of a legend...I've read about it in many books, but I half an idea that all the books were fiction ...
