Maddox Games has to take into consideration that some countries are squeamish regarding gore in PC games (Germany is unfortunately one of the most squeamish ones
). That means gore could very likely lead to a detrimental age rating which would not only hamper marketing efforts but also sales. For example games with severe gore effects end up on an index list in Germany which means you can't do any kind of public ads for them, they can't be placed on the shelves and have to be sold "under the counter" (so to speak).
