DLC is downloadable content, you pay for it on the xbox live market place of the ps3 one

The single missions are on the main menu and they are their for fun and to help unlock alot more planes. If you check this forum you'll see a sticky thread that has a list of all the planes in game and how to unlock them. Will post a link for you

speaking of P-47s, that single player mission where you protect the transport planes is a pita.
