I agree with you. Personally, when I play a match and there are players that I do not recognize I use less capable planes, to keep things a little even. I have seen players that I know are very good, destroy all others with planes like the Spitfire IX and La7 and La5. It is even worse when the respawn time is set to 5 seconds because as soon as they die they are already at your six, and to the new players it does get very frustrating, its even frustrating for me.
Join my tournament my friend, add me and I will help you practice. Better yet, if you see me online and you are having trouble with any veteran bully just send me an invitation and I will keep him busy for you. BTW, was your post regarding SIM difficulty? I only play sim, so if you need help on sim or need a wingman add me Last edited by edal86; 12-13-2009 at 07:15 AM. |

In particular, I find this MIRGIRVIN guy relentless... he's clearly a superior pilot, but he never *handicaps* himself so to speak against others to give them a chance - he's always in a Spit or LA series plane, and I'm not sure what he's doing, but he ALWAYS sees you first, he's always on your six, and he's always sending you to the deck with only a few shots. To me, as a clear ACE, he really should be doing more to help make others better around him. |

I'll be back when they add cockpits, and then I'll fly along side you, stick close to my B-17 now they've fixed its damage, and I'll keep you safe.

in ps3 sim mode team battles, we almost always balance out the teams because a crap battle sucks. We put the known quantities on opposite sides, as well as the newer ones. Sometimes, though, a new face turns out to be an ace. Watch out for beanno on ps3, not kidding.
The last few arcade and realistic battles I played were crowded, I think that's where the team stacking is. Switch to sim and you'll find things are better. One problem is with 1 on 1 fights in dogfight mode. If a high-ranked player plays 1 on 1 against a low-ranked player, they have to be ruthless or they will lose rank. I used to go easy and just get 2 or 3 kills in a round, and then find out I lost a level for being mr nice guy. If they would introduce unranked ps3 matches, or better yet, PvP training and co-op training, it would be a lot easier to help out the new pilots. Right now only team battle mode really works for that, but it doesn't give you much chance to work on advanced maneuvering. |

any1 feel free to add me too. I'm def not as good as any1 mentioned above, but I get the feeling that flyin with/against equally skilled pilots is also great practice - as much as flying against more experienced pilots imo. And I usually dont go too hard on a guy if I see he's a rookie (sorry if i've been in the past, dont remember doing this, mayb when drunk, lol) And any1 of u more experienced pilots that want to give me pratice sessions with cockpit view - please send me invite... got totally owned yesterday in these TB... couldnt see sh*t ![]() Def not kidding!!! |

Since my style is usually to wound my opponent then close in for the kill, I lose credit for a lot of kills. So it's not easy to outrank heavy shooters like Mergirvin or Cosmo79. But I was #2 behind Mergirvin for a while, and I didn't mind seeing that on the dogfight board. Most of us would be lying if we said we didn't care about our level. Not all, but most... the board for CTA is also pretty accurate since your points are based on successful landings and captures. It's right to rank wpedra0 #1. Since you're gonna be in the team tournament, make sure to practice CTA. Most people don't. It will matter. |

Cool, I'll do that. I tend to agree with Edal's general sentiment, in that the leaderboards don't really matter much. As a nice reference maybe to the top players, but that should pretty much be the extent of it.
The sooner we can get away from an obsession to be 'the' top player, the sooner we can focus on building a great online community, where winning and losing matters of course, but that equal emphasis can be placed on comraderie, fair play, and mutual respect for all of our fellow pilots. |
