Well, they're on a much larger scale, of course. Hard to fit a full size trim-wheel on a HOTAS. I believe Mark Starrett is very into civilian simming, so I guess he's likely to mean in a civilian prop plane. Even in IL-2, though, have a look in the Spitfire, P-51 or P-40 cockpit for good examples.
