Wow, I'm surprised no one has said F-86 SABRE!!!! Awesome name. And it's an awesome sound jet of the early years.

Now that is for a whole other thread. I'd actually have to think about the question for a bit, but off hand I'd say the phantom is a pretty sweet looking plane.

....and hey, it's got a nice name too!

Phatom's an alright plane, but it's to big for me. P/F-80 is a sweet jet. P/F-80 Shooting Star. It was Americas answer to the German 262, if the war had lasted just a couple more years. Then we'd of had B-29s, and P-80s flying over German airspace!! Speaking of which, the P-59 Aircomet was a cool name. Sad the prototype didn't succeed in what it was supposed to. But hey, that's why we've got the P/F-80.

P/F-80 Shooting Star

The F4 Phantom is sweet looking? You ever seen one in person? In Vietnam it was known as "Big Ugly", the plane that "had it's aerodynamics decided by committee" and "Proof that with big enough engines a brick can fly" LoL. Technically the F4 is the "Phantom 2". The original Phantom entered service in 1947 and was the first jet to operate from US carriers. I'm certainly not trying to bash a great plane's war record, but imho, good looking the F4 aint.
