i think i get what you mean are you trying to take a part of one pic and add it to another ???
or are you just trying to add one pic to another ??

if you are trying to cut a part out then what i do and did for the russian star in the above pic is to delete the background on cs4 there is a magic eraser i select that then click on the parts i want rid off the i clean up the edges of the part i want to keep i then select that part cut and paste into new pic
hope that makes sence ?

if i just want to add another pic to another pic the i cut and paste it into a new layer then i select layer style then blending options then i play around with the transparancy if you look at mattmans sig the pic of hartmann was done that way i pasted his pic onto of the siggy then messed with the blanding options till it looked right

phew i hope that all made sence and was helpfull to you ??
