This is entirely possible in game and in real life although very risky during combat. Simply fly vertical until the aircraft loses speed and stalls, then just give it full rudder to swing it 180 so the nose is pointing straight down. I forget the name of this move, I believe it's a hammerhead or something similar.

I play realistic and suffer from this everytime i play online! i know what im doing but it just seems like im firing rubber bullets all the time. Dont know whether its lag or what but its very very frustrating.

Play simulator, then you'll never notice your bad gunnery because you're too busy trying to figure out who the **** is shooting at you and where from.
Works for me. |

As for arcade aiming, aim infront of the leading cross, because of the lag you will miss the plane if u aim at the same place u would do in singleplayer.
There are also some people around with lagswitches, had a couple of em yesterday they look like they stop in midair then u fly em by and then they dont lag anymore and shoot u down with ease. |

Is this even possible with a console game? And is this on XBoxLive or PSN? |

Yeah its a bitch in cod4 as well, you can buy modded 360 controllers with the extra switch (plus far worse in Halo3).

Not sure if this may be part of the problem, but it also depends on your distance away from the target you are shooting at. Bullets do more damage per hit the closer you are to the target. Far distances may hit, but not do near as much damage per bullet.

Do you have any proof of this? It makes sense, but I have shot people to flames with relative short burst from 1.0km (although mostly lucky hits). It might just seem that way since it's harder to hit someone further away, so you'd think the bullets do less damage.

For me it is even still unclear for the IL-2 PC version.. and no one seems to know for sure. From experience I would say that it does matter. The change of killing someone with a short burst over a short distance, is way bigger than over a long distance. And with this I mean, hitting the whole burst in both cases. But still it depends on where you hit them.. if it was the cannon or MG that hit.. I dont think we as players, can ever prove with 100% certainty, if it is true or not. not without a dev |
