This week, on I Take Everything Literally, we learn that "above the law" is a figure of speech

forum rule that was breached
Trolling is against the rules, and anyone pretending that foobar wasn't just trying to troll people is deluding themselves

and why it does not result in banning in all cases.
I am not a moderator so I have no idea why they don't ban all the trolls.

Don't be droll, I am directly questioning the standards you are applying. I am saying that based on the rules and 'laws' we write down, be they forum rules or legal rules, it would be difficult to point to any wrongdoing by Foo'Bar, yet you still insist on blood.

I am saying you are in favour of dispensing mob justice, just because the dumb mob got burnt. By accident and their own stupidity.

Lol well I agree there. Some things are a mystery.

Do you hear yourself? Well I'll indulge this - what are the elements of this 'trolling' offence and how has foobar met them?

Since you are calling into question the judgment of anyone who doubts that foobar is guilty before proven innocent, it might also be pertinent to describe the standards by which you tell when someone is deluding themselves.

Does this express your opinion on what Foo'bar did? If so, why not come right out and say it, and have your opinion tested?

You seemed much braver in the other thread;

But have brought as little value as you did there

As I said, whether intentional malicious intent or not he still did something in very poor judgement that led to people's systems being inoperable. He should know better than to resurrect an old beta thread. The reason others weren't banned for looking back on the past years events was because they didn't try to invoke a community response by bringing up an old thread. If I did the same I would expect to be banned myself for poor judgement. He is not above the rules an nor is anyone else. I will consider the length of ban but he in my mind was stirring the pot at a time that was in very poor taste and judgement.

If you noticed I changed the name of the old beta thread and when I have time I will do the same for the others. It's a difficult job to moderate here and it's my daughters 1st birthday today so excuse me if I haven't got the 8hrs a day to moderate, the same as some of you that all the time in the world to troll about all day long. That's all the time I'm prepared to put into this today and I stand by my decision.

Did Pencon get banned for resurrecting the other patch thread yesterday.... After Foo'Bar had had his little "joke?"

I think you're taking this just a wee bit too seriously. This isn't a court of law. There's no such thing as "guilty until proven innocent" on the internet. Somebody apparently installed that patch and wrecked their game and reported the post, moderators decided it was trolling or otherwise inappropriate for the forum. End of story.

Sometimes you guys forget that this forum is a war zone, it always was since the days of Forgotten Battles.

There trolls here all the time trying to trolling the community and in the opposite side the moderators trying get ride off of them, with specially intensity this days when CLOD is in a delicate state.

You should be aware of this if you don't want get hit by a lost bullet.

I guess that Foobar just acted without thinking the consequences, but the moderators are bound to take actions to fix the mess.

I think that a better idea was resolve it with a infraction, but this debate is useless now.

Anyway ... Foobar belong to this community, he will be welcomed when this get solved and we´ll see his contributions to IL-2 again, because he is a good and appreciated member of the IL-2 community.

That´s the difference between ban a troll and ban good member.
