If 10 testers have a range of PC's and they get CTD's all the time with our version of CLOD, then they apply the patch and now the CTD's have stopped and they have made no hardware changes to their PC's, what does that tell your about the CTD's?

am i missing something?

(by the way i made up the number of testers just in case i get jumped on again)

It tells me only a maximum of 10 different PC's have been tested with the patch, how many different setups do you think we have on this forum alone?

LOL. Someone needs a lobotomy.

Clod was released and still is BROKEN. It is not a PC issue.

I'm just trying to push the pre-patch euphoria down to realistic levels here, imagine the anti-climax when some people still are experience regular CTD's after the patch. As B6 and luthier themselves said in the update:

Finally, we need to mention the launcher.exe crashes. This was a very hard issue to address as it wasn't caused by a single 100% reproducible bug, but rather rare combinations of various uncommon events.

It wasn't a single bug that they could just locate and squash with a couple of lines of code but by re-writing the engine and optimizing it they have probably minimized the chance of CTD's to a ridiculously low level. I'm sure someone will still have a CTD or two after the patch but they will most likely be a lot less frequent and a lot less common.

P.S There never was a CTD bug, the whole game engine was the bug.

Yep agreed, Not PC dependent.

All games sometimes CTD, i just hope it goes back to a rare event.

I have no idea how you got that from his post.

rather rare combinations of various uncommon events

That could easily include PC configuration.

Right Furbs! that's what I'm trying to say. I've had CTD's -both often and sometimes just once- in so many other PC games I can't remember them all. CTD's are almost never caused by a single bug, it's as luthier said, a combination of many complex events and that's why it's hard to cure.

In fact, I'd like to tell about a typical example. It's about the game Farcry 2, I used to play that game to bits a couple of years ago and after almost exactly 50 minutes during each session the game crashed, EVERY TIME. The problem was a memory leak that was claimed to be fixed in a patch but never was.
