I have a feeling that this is not a game problem but a driver/3rd party app thing. Try to turn off sounds, that should limit possible sources of problems, and if that will not help then turn off all other programs which can be turned off (starting from catalyst control center or nvidia control panel to a long forgotten util running on systray. Try to focus on anything dealing with graphics).
