Take Offs and especially landings will be a lot more interesting with real wind and turbulences. I hope the SOW based Korea will feature carrier operations.

We'll all have to learn flying from scratch, when BoB is released.

Well I've been trying the wind mod from AAA...and it is really good...
Previously the AI were useless at decision making but petty much by the book at flying...but with this the field is leveled...watching them crabbing along across the wind is fun....and the wind takes them well off-course from their assigned waypoints...they act like rookies as if they don't know what wind is and how to react to it......lol |

Hi all,
In clear weather you can navigate with reference to ground features. But over the sea, in cloud or at night that is not an option. The BoB was fought in daylight and only over a small section of sea (The English Channel). But as SoW progresses, navigation will become more of an issue IMHO. Best Regards, MB_Avro. |

Celestial navigation is a must for immersion in my humble opinion, especially if we see a night war addon somewhere down the road. However, don't expect it to be more accurate than your gyro compass, it just provides a rough estimate to where the north lies in case your instruments get shot out or damaged.
Now if we had some plotting and navigating instruments when flying bombers things would be different. Obviously, these would need to be disabled in fighters for realism's sake. It shouldn't be that hard, since it's already been done in another Ubisoft product, Silent Hunter 3. Of course, the stars there are all the same color, small white dots, while in reality stars have varying colors and mangitudes, but it still is very nice to pump up time compression, go to the U-boat's bridge and watch them rotate around the north star just like it is in real life. Also, the same plotting tools found in SH3 plus a stopwatch would be all that's needed to model a navigator's station for a bomber. |

I assumed we would get real wind... That's a key factor of how one controls the aircraft. A huge win for all if it is modeled.
