Default Definitive flightstick?

I love the demo, but have never had a joystick or flight combat sim of any kind before....so can I ask for opinions on the best value for money joystick for PS3?
I have read a good few posts here and can see quite a few people recommend the Saitek Aviator and other say Thrustmaster...
Anyone want to give a final opinion before I buy?
(I don't want to spend over about £40 as I wouldn't use it for anything but this game)
Regards
Jem

i also want to know which is better... I'm thinking the 'aviator' because its one of the controls specifically mentioned in the demo and its a bit cheaper.

And just to add something to the question, how do the joysticks handle the free look control?

Has anyone tried the Hori FlightStick 2 with BoP on the PS 3?

I was looking at thrustmaster but found out I would have to import it myself making it almost twice the price (shipping fee +import taxes/duty) so it's the Aviator for me

As I have already said before... I have got both of them (Aviator and Thrustmaster for PS3).

Please note that I'm not as expert in sim games as many other here could be.

But In my opinion... If there had to be only one that would be the Saitek aviator just because of the free look stick that is analogical.

The Aviator is less comfortable but nicer and lack two buttons at least... I hope that the "zoom in" view will be accessible on the aviator config on the definitive game. So as you have understood, there is no zoom on the aviator controls mapping.

On the contrary, the thrustmaster is really well made, comfortable and has enough buttons. But the hat switch is awfull (8 positions... but only 4 out of 8 works: up, down, left, right). Even if this is corrected in the final game, this isn't analogical so it is not worth use this function. Unfortunatly this one of the most important for me.

If you are sure to play on arcade and realistic mode then the thrustmaster is probably a better choice because you can use your lock on camera to follow an ennemi.

In all cases, don't be too worried about the flight sticks.... both work well on BoP but with good sides and bad sides.

My choice: Saitek aviator AV8R-03

I was hoping that I would be able to use my Saitek Cyborg Evo for this (tried it with the Thrustmaster setup, but some controls are in the wrong place making it un-unsable at the mo). I don't think they will have any more configs or options to setup other joysticks on initial release, and not even sure if they have the intention to fix this at a later date so decided to go buy a new one, and based on other comments on this forum it seemed to be a choice between the Saitek Aviator and the Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X, for those in my price range.

I went for the Thrustmaster mainly as I preferred it in most aspects, mainly looks & features, but also particularly the fact that you have the option to yaw by twisting the stick (as with the Aviator) but also with the rocker underneath the throttle, the only downside being that the hat switch is not analogue but I expect I will mostly play in realism mode so wont be too much of a bother (my existing cyborg is the same anyways), and even if I do play in sim mode I would hope that they would patch it so you can make use of all 8 positions on the hat switch.

Still waiting for the joystick to come into stock, but was just over £30 (after delivery charges in the uk) at dabs, so not too bad.

There's zoom on the AV8R. I've used it myself. It's one of the left buttons on the base, near the D-pad.

Well, I already bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS. Its coming to my doorstep on Monday

I learned about the 4 point free look after I already ordered it. But just having the HOTAS setup I think I will like better.

I want to setup a chair and have the throttle on my left with the stick between my legs.

I also preordered the game. I'm ready to go! ha ha.
