Default Aviator Questions

I'm curious, in IL-2:1946 for the PC, pressing the F9 key would alternate between two modes of the HAT switch functionality. In the first mode you had to hold the switch in a spot and your head would stay there as long as the button is held, releasing the button would then snap back to the forward view. The second mode, which I significantly preferred, was the toggle type mode where you press it one click left persay, and your head would look 45 degrees left, then one click right to go back to normal. Can someone just fill me in on the HAT switch operation with the Saitek AV8R, or if this same option is available somewhere in the options menu? I don't have XBox Live so I can't get the demo, i'll have to wait until it comes out. Thanks ahead of time!

The HAT is analogue just like the view function. If you return it to the center position, your view returns as well.

Of the little experience i have with il-2 on a PC, there is a great range of user input/actions due to being able to operate both a flight stick and the keyboard. I don't know how this level of control would ever be realized on a console due to the limited functions on a PS3 or Xbox controller, or stand alone flight stick. It would be super cool if one could plug a flight stick into one port on a PS3 and a keyboard into another but I doubt that is possible. PC sim fans are going to have to either stick with PCs or come to terms with the fact that BOP is a console game.

...Well thanks for nothing with the above post. Coming to terms with BOP being a console game is a complete non-issue, what I'm asking is if there is a way to select the mode of which the HAT Switch operates. It doesn't have to be a button on the controller, nor did it even have to be a key in '46, it just was because it could be. What the F9 key serves as in the PC version did not at all have to be assigned as a key, it could easily have been an option in the options menu. All it does is switch between HAT modes. It's much better to press the switch one click left or 2 clicks left, or 4 to check 6, than it is to hold the switch on an exact pixel while still flying your aeroplane. I would imagine that for this game there would be a pretty in-depth options menu, can anyone spread some light on the kind of options there are?

I don't have experience with the Aviator, but I will later on today, even though I should of two days ago, but hey, what can you do? But I know what your saying, I tested out IL-2 on my PC, and then went into the BoP demo, and well, looking around is not the same way at all.

On PC, the 'Hat' clicks sort of like a button into any direction you move it, but theres really only 8 directions you can move it, which it turn moves your characters head into the direction you place on the stick.

On console, instead of a Hat, its an analog stick, which is sort of like a very small joystick. Now, the way it works on console, however far you move your analog stick, thats how far your head will move. It doesn't toggle a 40 degree look to the left, and then turn the stick right to re-center it. Its just however far the stick moves, and how you move it.

Personally, I love this much more, as it allows for smooth movements, and complete control on where you want to look. If you have experience with an FPS, think of it that way, only you can look so far, and letting go of the stick automatically re-centers your view.

As far as a know, answering your question completely, there is no option to change this at all. But when you try it out, you might prefer this, I don't know, but like I said, I myself like this much more, as you are not restricted to only looking a certain degree.
