Default pc restart

when loading a saved game my pc restarts. in the log file I find the message below:

Your save game is probably from an unpatched version and thus not compatible anymore.

bought the game last Saturday from steam, seems not likely that the saved game is from the unpatched version or am I mistaken and do I ned to patch?

Id update your graphics drivers,& or directx,maybe one or the other,if it is updated has got corrupted.

left the loaded game and started new, got one play going, got killed, started the mission again and the same restart.
