Default first bonus missions

hi i'm pretty new to the game and playing on hard(i am an experienced gamer and i play everything on hardest possible mode)

anyway
how the hell can u complete this quest on hard
(i think it's called the apprentice and the mage or something)

anyway u have to defend 15 turns O.o

you have like 4 militia 3 spearmen 3 eyoen bowmen a battle mage crow master maverick and master brennok

and u have to battle like

3 battle priest(all level 3)
7 landles horseman
4 champions of norath
1 warrior of nortah
a balista
4 crosbowmen
1 bowman
1 scout
1 assasin

and it's so hard to beat this level

i can beat the first 2 waves of them
but the third wave always managed to get into my town and then i fail

got any tips on this level?
^^

I have no idea... Got my ass kicked playing on normal in that scenario. Then never tried it again.

anyway i will write a strategy guide for this level ^^

first of all when u start the level buy a second ranger then deploy your units

on the front line should be milita with archers behind them(spearmen 1 to the most left to cover the last archer and 1 spearman to the right guardian your heros

to the outmost right spot to place troops
place a ranger there
and under it another ranger
then your heros should be placed whole the way down right in the tale part of the town

now during first turn
make your first assasin go to the fort(top right of the assasin himself)
second goes to the village
place all milita one square in front of the castle walls and the archers behind them(so the archers get the defense bonus) and can cover your milita
let brennok make a spectral warrior in front of your militia(so crossbow men will aim for that one)

place your heros closer and let spearmen or milita guard them

end turn

in turn 2!
the ranger in the fort goes to the other fort
ranger from village goes to the first fort

you attack some landless knights and if possible some crosbowmen

when your first ranger has entered the second fort(use lightning from brennok to hit the ballista and your maverick or battle mage to finish it off)
since the balista is a major pain in the ass and can cause alot of damage!

when u end your turn

he will mvoe out with his landless knights to fort 1 (he will most likely get heavily damaged(finish that one off witth a fireball or freeze spell)
the warrior or marcus will die to your first ranger(which should be level 3 by then)

and you should have enough cash for a ballista and deploy it on the battlefield)

since by now the landless knights would have killed 1 stack of milita

beware not TO LOSE ANY archers or the ballista OR YOUR HERO's+battlemage

after this setup you be sure to KEEP the milita and spearmen in front of your archers and RANGER smart placed on the map)
during turn 4 the top was killed right was killed)
and i only had to worry about those warrios or marcus and the champions with his battlepriest

keep resting milita and spearmen and cause damage with the archers

and this level should be a piece of cake

and the REWARD is very nice ^^

when i have finished the second bonus mission i will try to post it here too D:

Good effort Razor, how did you best use the ballista though? I take you didn't kill the leader and his army way over the other side from your castle as his army is sick!
I realise it is a lot to write so I will add some key points.

Buy a Ranger at the start as they retaliate really well and protect them in forts or use them to block entry.

Get out early to block access at all costs to your lands.

i didn't kill the leader didn't have the time for it
since you have to guard your land

and their battle priest army is sick

i killed all horseman but there was one battle eagle left the hero and 3 battle priest IIRC

Just completed that level. I used the rangers to distract his army and left them in the woods way down the other end, they both died though
