Default Video of cancelled combat flight sim?

This video has very realistic terrain, explosion, and smoke effects. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/56588

As with Birds of Prey, I'm very impressed by the graphics of the new games that has been developed recently. It makes me more and more eager to see some videos from Storm of War.

As for the game in the video, it really doesn't appeal to me. I'm stuck with the slowness of WWII aircombat, I guess. WWI gets a little bit too dull, though.

To me, it looked very CGI, and I doubt that it was created in their game engine.

"Rather than see the fruits of their labors go to waste, assets from the Stormbirds project have been released by both Calvert (above) and Steven Kerswell of CG studio RealtimeUK. The intro cinematic, created by Realtime, can be seen below. "

One of the problems they probably faced was making the game look as realistic as the intro cinematic. It will be facinating to see what the new generation of flight sims will look like on modern technology, but I doubt it will be looking quite this good for a while!

Cheers

really shows how much THQ cares about thier staff. how....unremoved. Made redundant. if my boss tried to make me "REDUNDANT" 3 weeks before Christmas i'd be spending the county jail and he'd be intraction cause i'd beat the brakes off his @ss.

Shame that will never see the light of day. lookd really good.

As great as the movie was, I doubt it was an actual in game movie. It was far too detailed and running much too smoothly. I would love to be wrong, however, and would like to believe that some programmers out there can squeeze those kind of graphics from today's PC's.
If the movie is CGI then it reminds me of what M$ did with CFS3 with their intro movie circulating the web for weeks/months before release...and how disappointed we all were when we finally bought it

WOW, I love the "Eagle-Cat" with vectoring engines concept! A crossbreed between the F 15 Eagle´s nose and tail fins, and the variable angle wings from the tomcat.

Now the sad part is that even a console air combat game is considered "risky"...
Oh man we are in trouble....
I trully Hope Oleg keeps giving us this wonders we call simulators...
