Download Cheat Engine from their website at www.cheatengine.org
Website for Download: Cheat Engine For those of you not familiar with Cheat Engine, it's a program that can be used for almost any game to use "Game Genie-like" cheats. It's easy to use but seems complicated and you have to know what the current value is of the item you want to edit/make infinite. The program works by altering memory strings while a game is running. If it's stored in memory during playing, it can be edited as a cheat. Now, to use this with King's Bounty, I'll explain the process. I've only used it for mana and gold but there are other uses if you want to take the time to find the strings. Bear in mind that this looks and sounds a lot more complicated and time consuming than it actually is. In fact, you could do this quicker than you can read the directions on how to do it. Not to mention after a few times of using Cheat Engine, you get pretty quick at it. 1) Download Cheat Engine and Extract 2) Run Cheat Engine.exe. 3) Run King's Bounty. 4) Load your saved game 5) Press Esc to pause 6) Alt+Tab back to Cheat Engine. 7) Click the Computer and Magnifying Glass button in the top left. This lets you select the program you want to work with. It will open a process list. 8) Scroll down until you find kb.exe and select it 9) Click "Ok." 10) In the program, change the drop-down menu labeled "Value type" to 8 Bytes from the default 4 Bytes. 11) Make sure "Scan type" is "Exact Value" 12) Go back to your game and see how much mana you have. Let's say it's full to its maximum of 130. 13) Alt+Tab to Cheat Engine again. 14) At the top, under "Value:" and beside "Hex" (Make sure the checkbox is UNCHECKED) enter 130 in the white box. 15) Click "First Scan" and wait. 16) Once it's finished, go back to your game and change how much mana you have any way possible. If its not full, just wait a minute and let some mana regen. If it IS full, on the first battle you encounter, cast a spell as your first move. Let's say you cast a spell with a mana cost of 40. Now your mana is 90. 17) Hit Esc to pause and Alt+Tab back to Cheat Engine. 18) Now, in the "Value:" box, replace 130 with 90. 19) Click the "Next Scan" button and wait. On the left under "Address" and "Value" columns the list that appeared after the First Scan should have dwindled down to 1 or 2 items. Rarely there might be 3 or 4 at this point. 20) Go back to your game, fight until you can cast another spell (or change your mana amount in any other way possible) or you can just use the amount that you have after a round of regenerating mana. Let's say you use a spell with a mana cost of 15 this time, putting you at 75. 21) Pause with Esc. and Alt+Tab back to Cheat Engine one more time. 22) Look at the list of addresses that remain on the left, there should only be 1 showing 75 under "Value." 23) Double-click the matching address to add it to the bottom where you can edit the string. 24) Double-click a value to change it. You can change the Description to "Mana" or anything else that will let you know what it's for. Don't change anything except for Description and Value. 25) Now you can change the value, but I recommend not making it higher than your maximum mana or the game could crash. Tick the box on the far left that read "Frozen" to...well, "freeze" the value. This means that it will not change from the amount specified. No matter if you cast spells, drink potions, whatever. The mana amount will stay whatever you have in the box; thus: infinite mana. Now you can repeat this process for Gold. It's done the exact same way and you change the value of your gold by buying or selling items inbetween scans. Sometimes you have to do 3 or 4 passes of "Next Scan" and changing the value between each one, making sure to update the "Value:" you're searching for to reflect each new amount. Once you have the addresses, you can save them into a .ct file which is nice for many games as you just load up the saved addresses and edit them. King's Bounty, however, won't work this way. Every time a game is loaded the addresses of the Mana and Gold amounts change. Sometimes you can't even find them with a standard scan. If, after the first "Next Scan" you end up with an empty list and no addresses, save your game and load it back up and try again. So, in short: Every time you play you will have to repeat this process to be able to get infinite mana/gold. Also, if you mess up and have to load a saved game the addresses change. Remember: You can do this on almost any game, even some flash games. Last edited by Gaius315; 12-15-2008 at 07:09 PM. Reason: Removed Download |
