Default Magic range

Is it worth it to enter the magic range area with a character other than a mage? Are you even supposed to? I'm playing as a Paladin and they take half my troops from me if I go in there. Is it possible to do that quest with a warrior or paladin, and do you get the rest of your troops back when you exit the range?

Get your intelligence over 15 with artifacts if you can. Or you could dump all your troops, it is possible to do the magic range without fighting mobs, it is very difficult to do this though. The reward is a staff that can be upgraded to +5 int +20 lightning though keepers are difficult.

I did it the other day on normal with my Paladin, level 16 or 17 i think. Snake rings are good for getting your init up as is obviously the Frog princess.

Didn't have too many troubles, used inqs, blue snakes, and bears as tanks.

Just make sure you keep enough troops, rage and mana for the last battle! The quest says you have to activate the 3 different altars, what it doesn't say is once you,ve done that, you still have one more gard army to beat!
