Default Next Kings Bounty Game

Hi all

Well after nearly 14 months of purchasing Warriors of the North (WotN) I am proud to say I completed the game today after 3 separate sessions totalling 74 hours of gameplay!

I would like to start by saying that I think KB is a fantastic series of games and I have been following the series since The Legend was released in 2008. However 74 hours is far too long for a single playthrough of any game. I would have much preferred to have completed the game 3 separate time using different character classes, creatures and spells on a harder level in this time. But unfortunately I cannot see myself ever coming back to WotN again as I do not want to commit to another 74 hour playthrough. This is a shame as the replay value of the game is reasonably decent.

So the reason for my post is please can we make the next version of KB focus on replayability rather than duration? Many of the wandering creature battles are completely pointless after a certain point in the game and the number of battles could certainly be halved. I don't think I lost a single creature in any of the battles in the last 5 islands (I was playing the game on hard). This just makes the game a grind to get to the end.

I remember thinking the duration of The Legend was about right so it might be best to think about going back to basics for the next version?

A couple of other comments I'd make:

1. Option to increase battle speeds / speed up animations (like HoMM5)
2. Less repetitive and more challenging battles rather than battles for the sake of padding out the game
3. Less tedious quests that simply involve fetching items from one location to another (especially across multiple islands)
4. Half the number of battles but make them more challenging (25 hour game feels about right so it can be replayed)
5. Remove droids as they are annoying and have no place in a fantasy game
6. Less text!! I for one simply click through all the text and never read a single line of any of it. I play the games for the excellent battle engine not the story.

I believe if this can be nailed for the next version it will be the best one yet. And I want to finish by saying KB is one of my favourite series of games so keep up the good work

Cheers
Ross

OMG, yes. I agree with everything you've said here. I am playing WoTN for a second time with the Ice & Fire expansion a year after my first playthrough, which took me 93 hours according to Steam. That's far too long. Now, with the expansion, it's even longer. Finally, after about 40 hours of gameplay, I got up to the DLC content, which is just ridiculous. 80-100 hours is too long for a campaign when 95% of that time is spent fighting endless battles. Like you I click through most of the dialogue options, barely skimming to see if I'm choosing the correct option. I think that Armored Princess was the best campaign in terms of length, with about 280-300 battles in total. So many of these battles are just filler. At level 43 I am fighting Deadly and Impossible stacks (Impossible Mage) and I'm winning most of these fights without losses. It's just dull after a point.
