Cool The awesome Yaks improvement thread :)

Hello Team Daidalos,

I would like to ask you if it will be possible to have more accurate cockpit details for the Yak family. I am not asking for higher resolution or eye candy stuff, i am happy with the overall quality of the pits considering their age.

However there's something i think could be improved: the shape of the yak windscreens: actually they changed with the different versions, but in game we mostly have the early rounded Yak1 windscreen up to the latest Yaks (9M) with only the 9U that have a rather strange squared rectangular one, and the 3 that have no metal frame at all (which is correct).

Long story short:

Early Yak1 (and possibly yak7) windscreen is rounded at the top (correct and nice in game) :

Yak1B 1943: should be trapezoidal:

Most of the Yak 9 appear to have the same type of windscreen (even the U which ingame is strangely rectangular, but i can be wrong here, i did not find much pics of this type

Yak9U:

Regular mid war Yak9:

I'm sure many people around here can provide documents about this.

Thanks for reading, and for all you made for our favorite sim!

Wink Yak3: Main undercarriage wheels shows through the wings

The Yak3 is awesome and beautiful.

The only thing is that we can see the wheels of the undercarriage through the wings when it is retracted. This is so sad!

I hope someone can do something about it, it would be great.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Sorry for people that misinterpreted the title of the thread: it is the Yaks that are awesome of course -facepalm-

I understand now why French language, (and not the English one) is the one for diplomacy.

I think the answer is if you want to make them go ahead, as its all run on volunteer time, folks over at Aviaskins have done a nice Yak-3 and MiG-3 (which needed an overhaul more than the Yak's IMHO, the default version was one of the orginal aircraft and its looking pretty bad now.) but I have no idea if they meet TD standards or if the authors submitted them. You can grab them as mods though. Most of the original aircraft set is looking pretty dated now.

And as I posted maybe a year earlier... The wings of Yak-3 VK-107A needs to be changed! They still have the size and shape of Yak-9U which is incorrect. Yak-3 VK-107A had the same shape of wings as Yak-3 (but all metal in later series). Ok here is the proof:

Default Fuel gauge for yaks

A post by Janosch in the 4.13 wishlist reminded me about this:

Having the wing fuel gauge for the Yaks would be nice too!
