Default Game crashes on launch

.\.BMRender\rmode.cpp(1583): DirectX call failed: -1, -1,D3DERR_INVALIDCALL (The method call is invalid. For example, a method's parameter may not be a valid pointer)

Unhappy

I have a similar problem. On launch I get the following error:



My system:
Win XP SP3
E6600 Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 7900GS

PS
I have no problem with UT3, Witcher or Crysis, so my machine is not 'too weak'.

Never mind, I returned the game to the store (I got Spore instead).
I just don't understand why a game is released in a state like this. Games that need to be patched before you can even play are agrevating me to no end.

Default PLEASE HELP!!! unknown r_path'ps20'

PLEASE HELP ME! i just bought the game today and i'm having trouble starting the program. always get an error message unknown r_path'ps20' i've updated drivers and everything even went to the russian kings bounty forum to seek help. apparently it was a problem with the russian version but they said they have included the latest patch with the american/english version. WHAT DO I DO NOW!!!!??

system

pentium 4 2.6 Ghz
3gb ram
Ati radeon 9000 series
latest windows xp service pack (svc pack 3)
updated every drivers (video, dvd, sound, windows xp)
