Hi all,
Today, I flew a mission in Cliffs of Dover where I failed to find the enemy. But... I enjoyed the mission! Best Regards, MB_Avro. |

Epic scale!
I want to feel up against huge odds and hopefully make it back, even if my aircraft is on it's last legs! My Squadron of Four against 50 aircraft....that's fun for me....and lots of stuff to shoot.....or tangle with ![]()

I've done that frequently.
Oddly it's much more satisfying to just fly around in CloD then it is in IL2.46. I think the immersive qualities of managing the aircraft just make CloD so much better. *EDIT* Back on topic, what I like is to contribute to the success of the mission, even if I don't get a kill. If that means calling out contacts, or simply flying CAP to enable others to come and go safely. It's about the teamwork...

I like a feel if the mission is recreates a historic event or person. A 'real' mission redone as was in 1940 with the right units and machines and skins.
This is why I like bolox Steinhilper campaign, Heinkill Aces missions, also I am really looking forward to these missions. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...ml#Post3654577 |

Historic reality .. AI that acts realistic ..
I once setup a test campaign of 6 Ace Emils V 6 novice defiants circling in large defensive circle. End result, Emils attack from 6 high, MISS with gun fire, 2 emils crashed into 2 defiants, no Emils hit any targets with gun fire, neither did the defiant gunners. If i changed defiant skill to higher than novice, they barrell roll into the terrain everytime ... End result, mission designer in tears bashing head against floor. If the mission was to frustrate the user .. IT WORKS! .

Team Work.
My most rewarding experiences in COD have been jumping onto server, joining in with a buch of pilots using teamspeak and working together to try to achieve an objective. With player fighters and bombers working closely together you can be fairly well unstoppable and come out in front against ever the most skilful opposition. Cheers! [2000th post! Woot!] |

Teamwork with squad mates!
My most memorable mission was online with a squad mate "Oldbeamer" using IL-2 1946. Flying FW-190 D9's on Warclouds, we spent about 5 hours on this night. Before takeoff we'd pick a patrol area and rally point. Once in the air we did not deviate from the plan unless we both agreed or had to bailed out. When in the patrol area we were constantly calling out contacts and when we had decided on a target, one would be the attacker and the other the observer. Using BnZ attacks we would alternate the roles during the attacks, it was awesome. I remember we bagged 10 kills in a single sortie. It was the best execution of teamwork I'd ever experienced. |

There could be a list of +/- items for mission builders that make missions enjoyable or boring/frustrating/etc.
One type of missions that feel like waste of time is those that last very long and during most of the flying time you just try to stay on course. Like fly 30 minutes over clouds over sea without anything happening. |

I enjoy managing my engine, and looking at the scenery if the mission gets slow.
Then I usually get woken up by tracers flying past me, and the whistle of a 109 ![]() |
