Default Looking for suggestions for a friend's new rig???

I've got a good friend who is just moving into flight sims- because of a problem with his medical & flying license.Anyway I want to get a suggestion or two of what he can ask for or get built for him& it will last for a few years. As CloD is the most demanding flight sim I know of I thought I'd ask here .He has the dough to buy a high end rig ( noe that he has to sell his plane..) but not something crazy not liquid nitrogen cooled...ditto on monitor ,what really works well out there at present.
I think he'll be flying alot of Rise of Flight , but I mighrt be able to convince him that CloD is worthwhile too- warts & all..
Thanks in advance for your help!

At this point, go with Intel for the processor. We need diversity, and AMD provides that, but at this point their processors are behind Intel in the "bang for Euro" stakes. I like the four core, no hyperthreading i5s, but that's me.

Get a 64 bit OS, it may be that 4GB is technically enough at this point, but sometime in the not too distant future it won't be.

For graphics cards, work out the naming systems then go with what you fancy, Tom's Hardware thought 6GB on a graphics card wasn't getting fully used:

Jim,

Check out my Post today http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=33931 in which I lay out what I am thinking of buying for a new Rig. I'll also be seeking advice on other forums and will send you links to those discussions.

B.
