Spit Engine Temp Model Quirky?
Fellow RAF pilots,
Has anyone noticed flight-to-flight variability in engine temp behavior (online flying)? I'm pretty consistent in my RPM, boost, and pitch settings for climb out and cruise, and on some flights it easy to keep temps under control, even difficult to get overheat unless radiator is closed. On other flights in the same session (same model aircraft), the engine overheats very, very easily. Am I imagining this or is there something going on that I'm not aware of? ~S~ AKA Knutsac |

Hi Knutsac! Yes, definitely yes. I tried to figure out how is it working for ages (maybe warm-up procedure etc.) but there is no logic and I am bound to say it's pretty random. You know what Merlin you've got once you get airborne and you can predict what kind of RPM can you use for the rest of the flight. Quite normal conversation in a Hurricane flight is 'slow down a bit dude I got this hot Merlin this time, I can only do 2500-ish!'
