Default Couple of issues : BF109 Loadouts and 109E4 lacking power

Hi All, pretty new to the IL2 front, like the game and managed finally to win some MP PVP dogfights.

I have tried customising the BF109 load outs, and managed to get a good mix. But when playing I sometimes (if not all the time now) spawn with no ammo or just wing ammo. I have reverted back to default and get the same issue, so going into a fight is pointless.

2ndly, I like the 109's with manual prop pitch so that I can tune it better. With the E4 it appears automatic, but when flying in a dogfight it seems to lack the power ?

Thanks for looking DB

The 109 E4 tends to coarsen the pitch too much when you take off on Automatic Pitch.
Easy way to check if in flight your RPM's are only 1500-2000.
Map a key for toggling automatic pitch and take off manually on full fine, then once in the air with the RPM's at 2400-2500 put the pitch level in neutral and engage automatic pitch, from then on the pitch control should keep your engine at 2300-2400RPM unless you throttle back alot.
I also like landing on manual as it gives a more direct response on full fine.

For the guns, sounds like a strange problem I don't really know a solution to.
Maybe it's a controls/joystick problem, is the ammo counter really at 0 when you spawn in, or are the guns just not firing?

Hi many thanks for the reply. The ammo counter is at 0 , all lights orange. Sometimes I have just wing ammo. Quite annoying !

Try going into the first screen of the loadouts section and making sure that you actually have the guns loaded on the aircraft, because it's possible to remove them.

You might have misclicked when trying to adjust the fuel and ended up momentarily clicking on the gun slots, then when you clicked out of it to close the drop-down menu you have accidentally set them to empty. I know because i've done it too a couple of times

In any case i'm glad you got it sorted out, now have fun flying it

yeah its in the controls....dont know which version u use, but it should be called toggle auto prop pitch or something.map it to a key....
and i would REALLY RECOMMEND to use only the manual prop pitch!once you know how to fly it, you will have an advantage to other pilots who use the automatic prop pitch...
