Default Ground dust

Hello all,

I have no problems at all with FPS in IL-2 Clod(around 30). Only when I am at the ground and get ready for take off and the ground dust come, the lag starts heavilly (10fps)

Setting all settings lower except for that visual detail (medium) It still will drain to 10 fps.

I know I can get rid of it by setting visual details on low. But then I won't see any smokes anymore, alsno not in the air if I damaged an enemy airplane. For me that will be a gamebreaker

A friend of mine also have the same videocard as I do (hd5770) and doesn't have troubles with it.

Is there another way to get rid of the lag with ground dust on? If not, is there a way to get ground dust off but all the other smokes (or atleast enemy airplanes on fire or whatever) on?

Kind regards,

Rudy Faasse

Are you running the latest official patch or the more recent (but not finalised) test patch? The first one does have some problems and the second hasn't optimized the issue yet (it mainly deals with curing the CTD problem).

In any case, particles do cause an FPS hit and it's one of the things the developers know about. Going by what they told us in one of the recent updates, they are currently working on optimizing grass, trees and dust/smoke.

So, we expect that the next testing patch will have an optimization for this problem.
