Default deleting confuser.ini-different behavior of planes

dear community...

i know i came up with the same kind of post already, but now some people confirmed what i already wrote...

it doesnt seem like a hardware issue, but some kind of glitch, which makes the flight models feel easier.
if one deletes the conf.user file in the 1c documents folder, me and other people of my squad feel a big difference in how the planes suddenly fly.

especially stall characteristics seem to be way more controlable and shooting is easier as well.

i noticed that in a strange way, this effect disappears after a couple of restarts though, so one has to delete the file every time before one launches the game.

its just a tip for those who may struggle with flying the plane on the edge...

ps: before you delete the file, safe your controls first to a file, because this will be gone

happy flying

The only reason for it I could see is a file with different joystick axis settings stored in a Steam cloud. When you delete the file it is replaced with a file from Steam folder first but then in some time it syncs with the Steam cloud. Try deleting the file in the Steam folder too and check files integrity to get one from Steam. Check if reducing joystick sensitivity in control panel has the same effect. E.g. some fly with .50 sensitivity in Y axis to improve shooting.

Do you have any proof that stall speed is changing, any tests done?

Thats what I thought as well, but I have never altered my joystick axis settings. I also have the Steam cloud sync disabled.

I have no idea how this works but it should not sync for me for I have that function switched off. I understand that after deleting the file, the default one from the fresh installation will load from steam (or it will be created by the game, I don't know). This contains all the default settings, e.g. Voice is back on, default HUD and default joystick settings. What puzzles me is how come that it does not stay that way? It will just go back to 'normal' the next session. But the voice remain ON. The sensitivity settings remain unchanged. I never touched them in the first place. I believe that with steam cloud sync off you don't use your files stored at steam server at all. And even if so, when I never altered them, why would they be different to the new default ones? It does not make sense. Also, if the joystick comes back to normal, say it is really different on my steam thingy - why is voice still ON (I had it switched off before) and why it doesn't bring the alternated HUD back (I have moved the chat window). This remains on default even after the new joystick characreristics is long gone.

I have been sceptical, but after trying this with David I can confirm the plane behaves differently and you can certainly get much better control. Just try it on Repka4 as we did. It is very strange indeed and it just works. My joystick is MS FF2 and in Win7 I have no means adjusting anything, it's just plug and play. I never fiddled with sonsitivity settings. Yet flying the same plane with this thing done, I can turn tighter and have better control of stalls etc.

Tried with few other people and they confirmed different behaviour. It is not any sort of placebo effect, the difference is quite obvious.

i have done that plenty of times....deleting the one in the steam folder as well i mean.
there is still the same effect, when the files get rebuilt the first time.
the same effect appears, if you delete the conf.ini file completely, or put joystick values in it, like in 1946.
this effect also appears after a complete new install of the game, but mind, only after the first launch.then it disappears in a strange way again.

it was said, that it is just the default axis settings, but i have tried those as well, and its certainly not that.
if i remember right, the default settings are 100% sensitivity, and 20% deadzone....this effect im describing is completely different in behaviour.

we have no answer why this effect appears, and more importantly disappears again, without changing anything, but we can feel it.

Have you backed up both versions and compared them? Is there any obvious difference?

Yes, can confirm that after deleting the CONF.INI under documents and reinstalling the game I noticed different AI behaviour. So this means after every patch this file needs to be replaced as well.
