Something strange happens with bombs in 4.11..
FAB-5000 (5000-kg high-explosive Pe-8 airbomb) now gives nothing but a "booom". Now this superbomb can destroy very few (2-5) static planes + several buildings and that's it. Though before 4.11 this bomb could destroy almost whole airfield (like Mistel)! Russian community asks ritoric question - "is this a bug or a feature?") Don't let it dig into the ground, it must explode on impact to achieve maximm blast radius. Therefor set delay to 0.0 seconds. That should do it. |

Probably I've missed a point... I drop the bomb from 3000 m, delay is 0.0...

If you're using the new bomb fuses option (Instant fuse setting), then it's possible that blast radii were corrected.
Anyway, you'll do more damage (surface area) with 4x 1000kg bombs than 1x 4000 kg bomb. |

Just tested in FMB. FAB 5000 still has the greatest blast radius of over to 200m. FAB2000 and SC2000 don't manage even 100m of blast radius.
So better use the more logical choices of multiple smaller bombs or bomblet containers. Therefor I think TD did the right thing, forcing players to use the correct and not just the biggest bombs for the tasks at hand. |

The FAB 5000 damage was ridiculous, you could take out an entire airfield with it, we called it "atomic bomb" in our squad. Glad to know they fixed this.

even the FAB2000 had such naming within our squad.

I think this falls into category of Reworked Bomb Damage.
Here is what manual says about it: Quote:

I found several sources in the internet giving blast radii. sources: http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/Research/O...5000/index.php http://www.expozice-ralsko.estranky....-pumy-sssr.pdf The table below explains the capability to kill soft targets (infantry) per FAB bomb in meter radius: Bomb___________kg_HE____kg_TNT_equal_____historica l_Radius___4.10.1_Radius_____4.11_Radius__________ HE-Energy (j) FAB-50____________26,35____24_______________25m_______ ________25m_________30m___________________65280000 FAB-100___________45______40.5______________35m_______ ________50m_________45m__________________151776000 FAB-250___________99______89.1______________56m_______ ________50m_________60m__________________333907200 FAB-500__________207_____165.6______________80m_______ _______250m________130m__________________698169600 FAB-1000_________555_____510.6_____________112m_______ _______500m________180m_________________1871904000 FAB-2000_________818_____654.4_____________267m_______ ______1100m________260m_________________2758950400 FAB-5000________3361____2688.9_____________428m_______ ______2500m________450m________________11335980800 So basically the FABs still have slightly more radius in 4.11m rather than in real life. The new approach that Team Daedalus incorporated into 4.11 is probably the best it can be for now and certainly is the closest to real for all bombs as it ever has been in stock Il-2. So thumbs up and salute for this TD! Last edited by II/JG54_Emil; 01-23-2012 at 02:49 PM. |

SC Bombs in comparisson:
Bomb___________kg_HE___kg TNT_equal___historical_Radius___4.10 .1_Radius_____4.11_Radius SC50_____________23________20.24_________32.5m____ __________25m__________30m SC250___________135_______110___________65m_______ _________77m__________70m SC500___________270_______193.6_________95m_______ _________82m__________90m SC1000__________530_______519.2________180m_______ ________168m_________170m SC1800_________1050_______968__________320m_______ ________229m_________230m SC2000_________1200______1056__________350m_______ ________275m_________280m Looks to me like nothing has changed here from 4.10.1 to 4.11.
