patching
Installed my il2 sturmovik 1946 cd on my new computer. I downloaded the 4.08 patch and installed it. It seemed to install alright but the version# on the intro screen still reads 4.07m. I've uninstalled the game and downloaded the patch from other sights but the intro screen still reads 4.07. I thought the version # on the load screen changed with the patch, but it's been so long since I've done this I can't remember. Can someone please help.

Make sure, that on the install program window it shows the exactly path, that you have your game installed (it may differ). Alternatively you can just unpack the whole patch into a random new folder (via i.e.WinRar) and manually copy all the files in your games main directoy (where it contains the il2fb.exe).
And yes, version number should change. P.S.: Welcome here! Patch order for the '46 game (4.07m) is: 4.08m 4.09m 4.09m new default skins (optional) 4.10 4.10.1 And very very soon 4.11!!!

I found that I needed to run the patches as Administrator in Win 7. Maybe the same will help you.

Thankyou for responding. I have checked the path carefully and it seems to be right. When I check the il2 program files the patch shows up as still compressed (the winrar icon). I've tried extracting it right there at the destination but still no luck. I guess I'll try your suggestion of extracting to a new folder and moving them manually. Again, thankyou for your help.

manually moving the files worked. Thanks again. I have one more question. Since I never play online are the next patches (4.09 etc.) worth installing?
