Hey gang:
On multiplayer and a discussion came up on what resolution to use for better visibility to spot an enemy. My res. only goes to 1280X1024 75 Hx. The guys on Team Speak had numbers way higher than that. My issue is these guys were certainly spotting stuff way before I could. Ideas here ?? Well what size is your monitor? Sounds like a 17" or 19" or something like that.

Jepp, would, you can also switch off all details, go for lowest settings and lowest resolution... like the guys who switched off trees in old 1946 to better spot contacts...
![]() I hope that is not a serious recommendation...

It's sad that people indeed do that in order to win. And above all call it a 'tactic'.

Basically the bigger and higher max resolution your monitor is, used along with a super low resolution in game would make distant planes alot easier to spot. Just as cheesehawk has said. Instead of using one pixel for a distant object at max resolution it would use multiple at a lower res, thus making it easier to see...

I don't agree with this idea that ac are easier to see at lower res and find high res far better at rendering distant ac. My 22 in monitor is 1920 x 1080 native and the only other res that is acceptable in terms of clear defintion is 1280 x 1024 with a 4:3 aspect.
I switch between those two depending on wether I am in MP or SP. I tried all the other lower resolutions (e.g, widescreen 1600 x 900) but found them all to be inferior in terms of spotting ac. I would think that a larger display at high res is probably far better.

I seem to be able to spot planes and ships well on SP and MP, sometimes it seems, before my companions spot them. I just run everything native on a big screen.
