Default uncheck read only

Cod has been stuttering like crazy and has had at least a fifty percent drop in fps since last beta but no complaints here because it has to be me, my setup or something I'm missing. Well I found my problem launcher exe./ properties / read only box was checked. I unchecked it and WOW games running great better then last patch. Hope this helps someone. Edit: Runs better but does not look better, someone got happy with the contrast

Why would an executable need anything other than "read only" permission?

Don't know the answer to that all I know is I have been stuttering and lagging. I uncheck read only box and I'm running smooth now.

Well, I am happy for you, seriously. You can actually get some fun out of flying now. Maybe others who read this will check if they have a read-only turned on in the launcher properties.
I so far never had problems with stutters, luckyly.

You leave it on and you can't overwrite it. So when unrar'ing the patch the .exe is not updated and you're stuck with the old one. Some unpackers don't warn about that.

It was checked for me.

So, at 2:45am (the time at which I read the post) I unchecked it. Jumped into the ATAG server and flew a 109 E-3. I really was very tired at this point, but I did not notice much improvement for stuttering. I still got those 1-2 second pauses (not sure if this may be connected to AI spawning, people spawning or spawning in with custom skins).

I will try again this morning and see what plays out and report back.

Cheers!

Whiskey

Yeah Whisky I think that's not 'real' stuttering, that's just a new flight of Planes, what I count as stuttering is when you get a little stutter every 5 seconds or so, Like RoF for a period of time.

I have those freezes as I like to call them a couple of times in an MP mission, but it goes away after half a second, but it's still annoying
