At first was working great, could press Escape and skip all videos, play the game etc'. Now though...Escape doesn't work and after all videos are done it's stuck with a black screen doing nothing. :\
EDIT: I removed all videos because they were annoying anyway, but it's getting to main menu with a blackscreen. :\ Spec: i5 2500, AMD 5850 (latest drivers), Win 7 64Bit please help :\ Last edited by adi518; 10-02-2011 at 03:55 AM. |

I am seeing the exact same behavior with an nvidia 590gtx.
I have noticed that sometimes I am able to skip one of the videos before it hangs, but that is about it. I've tried all the usual suspects: removing the directory that it creates in Documents\My Games\PP3, removing the game entirely and re-downloading, removing any references I could find in the registry, etc. It did actually start twice for me: once right after install yesterday morning and then again this morning after several attempts it started once. Unfortunately it then stalled with a "Checking Serial Key" message when I went to start a multiplayer game. Disabling the intro movies by deleting the .bik or editing Documents\My Games\PP3\PP3WorkGame\Config\PP3WorkEngine.ini and set bForceNoMovies=TRUE and the game then seems to load the menu screen and hang. |

The game does create a log when it runs in the user dir at PP3/Logs/Launch.log.
Here is what it shows just before the end when it hangs at startup: Quote:

And this is from the log when it worked and did not hang at startup: Quote:

Sounds like you're having exactly same thing lol... I bet it's something in the profile save file, it might got corrupted somehow.
I hope this company reacts fast with a patch or it will draw away many potential customers. |

i resolved this exact issue for myself by disconnecting my internet before running the game. it now starts as long as my internet is disconnected

didn't think of that. I'll block it in the windows firewall.

looks like you were right. It does work when I disable my network adapter. Obviously tho, it's not a good solution. Blocking it in the firewall didn't do the trick either.

any ways when u try and start lan if it freezes on the serial check hit F1 (opens the little ? help guide) then hit enter and now your bk on the screen for setting up your server and no longer stuck on the checking serial number.. SO WHY ISN'T THERE A OPTION TO TYPE IN THE SERIAL so you don't have to deal with the whole serial check AND the annoying steam message pop up ..yes i know you can stop the steam message but none the less it should be a ONE TIME THING, you run the game first time, put in the serial and be done with it DERPA DERPA!!! ![]() |
