How big is the mission? What number of planes/vehicles? But most probably CPU.

Let's say mission with 60 a/c. Why would the software be the show stopper?

If you only experience performance issues in very large environments with lots of planes, then most likely the CPU is the bottleneck. But to be sure you could check where the bottleneck lies by playing the sim while making a graph from CPU and GPU utilization. Make sure you also look at core utilization of your CPU because globally your CPU could indicate 30% usage while one core is still maxed out. I've seen this mistake made multiple times on this forum. I also want to point out that you have a superb system, but your video card (multi GPU) can be a bottleneck when not properly configured for this sim. I myself don't have experience with multi GPU/SLI or Crossfire setups, but I've heard they can be trouble with this sim in its current state. |

![]() I believe it's difficult, if not impossible, to find a PC game (I might add a finished one) that would not run flawless with the system specs in question. Of course it's common sense that the more stress you put the CPU under, or for that matter, the GPU, RAM or HDD's you will suffer in performance degradation. (e.g.adding more planes, more objects, etc.) Regards. Last edited by jg27_mc; 06-18-2011 at 10:23 PM. |

I like to be on the same page with other posters, so I try to use the correct terms when possible. ![]() I agree with you that the sim could be more streamlined in its performance. My biggest wish is that they move over some game functions of the main core to other less utilized cores. This would greatly increase performance on most computers because most CPU's are wasting precious cycles. But I also want to state that a lot of people underestimate the computing power needed by a modern and serious flight sim. There is so much happening under the hood (calculations wise). Even an old fight sim like Flight simulator X (released 2006 if I'm correct) can still put great strain on modern computers. My first introduction to the IL2 Sturmovik brand was with Pacific Fighters. In those days I had a > €3000,- rig but that sim was at least as heavy to run so not heavier. |
