shouldnt be the other way around that you cant look back with straps on?

This is a simple loss in translation I believe, by loosen straps 1C means that your are purposely moving your head to squint down the sights.
But I agree, they should remove the lock and allow you to look around normally, I have heard some mutterings from head track less pilots saying that this restriction gives track it and free track users an advantage. Hopefully they will change it back to the 1946 standard.

I use track ir and have the same restriction with loosen straps so not sure we really get any advantage.

They we get an advantage as we can set the centre to the right and see the whole revi sight, but they can move the centre with the mouse if they wish however they seemed to ignore my suggestion and keep on ranting

Because it's been named like that to pretend it's some clever new feature, when all it is is a gun-sight view. Probably thought up by the same marketing chap who did the pre-release videos.

it would be cool if when you lose the straps with the canopy off and apply negative g you get off the plane

Because some one in the design team didn't think it through properly.
It's a very, very poor "feature". |

If you use a head tracker: 1) Move your head a bit to the left (not turn, but move laterally) 2) Press your center key and return to your normal position in your chair 3) Since the tracker now thinks that center is to the left of where you're standing your actual position is to the right of that center and the whole view is shifted to the right. 4) You can now view the gunsight without going to shift-F1 view. If you don't use a head tracker: 1) Enable mouselook (which in turn disables the mouse cursor for the clickable cockpit), default key to switch between the two mouse functions is F10. 2) Press the center view key. 3) Now that you're looking straight ahead, keep the right mouse button pressed and drag your mouse to the right. This shifts the entire viewpoint to the right, continue until the Revi is in sight and then release the right mouse button. I think that pressing the center view key doesn't reset this, so you can fly and fight perfectly fine once you adjust it. 4) Go ahead and shoot stuff down. There's a load of options for things like this and in fact, the interface is one of the few features of the sim that the manual actually explains pretty well. Go ahead and read the manual people, sheesh |
