Default At a loss....HELP PLEASE!!!

I've had this sim installed for almost 3 wks, an have yet to get it to work. First was a video driver error...got that corrected. Now, I keep getting "Launcher has stopped working" error every time I try to start a mission. Here is what the details of the error are:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: Launcher.exe
Application Version: 1.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 4d6e3d08
Fault Module Name: core.dll
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4db85174
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 000e24b0
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

I know my system won't run the game great, and don't expect it to. But I do think it should run the game.

my system is:

Intel Q8200 @ 2.33
8 gig memory
geforce 9500gs 512 (weak link i know)
vista 64 bit

I have uninstalled...reinstalled...verified...deleted cache...I'm at a loss...any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I get that from time to time, though certainly not constantly.

Are you still using the base version of the game or are you patched up? You may have varying levels of success with some of the more recent beta patches. For some they're an improvement, for others they get constant crashing. It can't hurt to try different patches though in an effort just to get a mission to load.

I also presume you have the latest DirectX? It might be worth downloading and installing DirectX separately, just in case.

Speaking of DirectX, what version does your videocard support? Is it actually a DX10 capable card? Might be worth trying to force DX9 anyway, as a test if nothing else. I can't remember the line to set (in conf.ini), but someone else I'm sure can shed some light.

Thanks PC. Yes I'm patched up to the latest beta. I've tried just the base install and each patch one at a time. The video card is supposed to be DX 10 capable, but I had to force it to DX 9 to resolve the video driver error I was getting.

I'm presuming you've tried different graphical quality settings as well as different resolutions?
What happens if you try start in windowed mode?

Perhaps it's worth trying to install the stuff in the redist folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist\

You can ignore the GDF one but try running the installers in the other folders.
