I'm talking about the issue of controllers not being recognised in the new game, leaving people unable to assign axes to flight controls. It may be an issue with 64bit operating systems, or maybe it's something to do with mapping through joystick software, or who knows what?
Two things are abundantly clear. Apart from the four-controller limit the control-mapping system in IL-2, all the way up to '46, works very well - but the new system sucks. Secondly, why is there no comment coming out of the dev team regarding this issue? I agree that there are a lot of features that needed fixing post-release and a great deal of work has been done in a very short time - but that's not much use if you can't get your rudder pedals recognised and/or your throttle axis to function. I'm surprised that the most common axiom of engineering has been ignored. That is: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

It was not broken... yet outdated.. that was the point. they started from scratch so this version will have a chance in the new world with better graphics, physics etc. They build a complete new engine. I bet just copy pasting stuff wouldnt be as optimized as it is now. Which obviously still needs a lot of work..
I would try to set your controls in game for the time being. I normally always use profiles for all my games but I guess right now its saver to controls in game. Everything works perfect for me. Joystick, throttle, pedals and throttle quadrant. track ir. I run win 7 64bit. |

Nice for you Kingpinda
![]() On my 64bit system there runs the joystick and the pedals not with CoD. I had up to now still no Flugsim which has not recognised my hardware. |

has anyone noticed that this bug occurs only when going in and out of missions all the time... ie replaying missions. Restarting the sim brings the stick back.
the problem if that is so, is in the caching/ memory management system (notice also, the config.ini doesn't save until after exiting the sim)

Are You sure u run all apps as an administrator? Also CoD install? Just curious...I had similar problem with my controllers, I could not assign rudder pedals on axis, game could not find it, then config.ini was not saved. I removed CoD from steams library and install it again as an administrator mode, this sorted my issue... I hope that will help You...

Please explain EXACTLY how you do this. I am not familiar with Win 7.
Also I have checked anything to do with CoD and I have set them all to run as administrator(little shield beside app.) |

OK. Firstly I went into Steam via the taskbar to Library. Under 'ALL GAMES' I highlighted the line 'IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover' and right-clicked it. Under Properties/ Local Files I selected the Delete Local Game Content option (*see note below)
When the delete was through I exited Steam from the taskbar. Second, I opened the CHCM (using Run as Administrator) and selected a clean map. I already had one prepared and calibrated. No buttons entered, everything DX. I downloaded it and exited. Next I opened Steam from the Desktop icon using Run as Administrator. At this point I reinstalled COD using my hard copy. Once that was complete it was back in the Steam Library waiting for the patch to reload. That done I restarted to the game and went to Options/ Controls/ Axes. I deleted all the previous attempts and started with the Elevator and it went like a breeze. I double-clicked the space next to Elevator and the small window opened. It was offering me a command but I cleared it and pulled the stick. The new command appeared and I OK'd it. Then I hit Apply and highlighted the box 'Elevator' again. The bars lit up to show the movement of the stick. Success! I went through the list of axis commands repeating the process. All good. Then I went to the Buttons list and chose Toggle Engine. I opened the Assignment Window and pressed a button on my TM MFD which was also accepted. I hit Apply again and checked it, then I hit Save As and saved the whole thing. Note that I deactivated the whole Steam Cloud function a while back, so this Control File is stored in the Folder C:\Users\*****\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover I called it Bob. More later about tying this in with the CHCM - my hand is tired ![]()

Also a ggod thing to do with sims and win 7 or vista; Do not install under Program files.
Just install as admin under C:\ Also I usually just do default installs and hardly ever experience problems running things. |
