Default Aircraft Tags

Does anyone know of a way to make the aircraft tags shorter or abrievated ?
I want the tag but they are almost like a whole sentence sticking out from the
plane and messes up my already pitiful shooting. If I remember right in IL 2 1946
you could adjust how much info the tag had by clicking ( i ) or something.

I just need a crutch ...not a whole ambulance

I followed this http://www.il2-fullmissionbuilder.com/custom-icons.html and worked fine just adjust your distances or delete TYPE or ID etc if you want to shorten. Part 3 and 4 works too. Hope that helps.
