Default CoD won't fully start up

Hi,

I have the game on steam but unfortunately I can't get it to load properly. Having looked at the FAQ I thought my graphics driver was the culprit, but I've updated them to the appropriate version and no luck.

The game loads to what you see in the attached picture and no further. It doesn't show any splash screens or the like, it goes straight from a balck screen (with the crosshairs image) to that. I can move the cursor around, bring the boxes up with alt+click (and close them) but can't make anything else happen.

PC specs:
Core2Duo E8400 3.00GHz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GTX 285 (Driver: 270.51)
Vista 64bit

I've tried restarting multiple times, verifying the game's cache, running as administrator. Would appreciate any help, thanks

EDIT: Oh and one other thing, Steam said I'd need to enter the CD key it gave me, but I was given no option (perhaps because it isn't starting up properly). It did say the "Activated!" thing though.

I'm having similar problems, but I am using a Toshiba Notebook with a monitor attached.

I updated the Nvidia and Toshiba drivers, I get through the black screen with cross-hairs to the menu...but, no Pilot or Aircraft are visible, and when I load a mission it's back to the desktop but with engine sounds...Ah well, hopefully a patch will sort it.

Specs:

Win 7 32bit
2.66Ghz
4GB Ram
Nvidia GT330M 1GB (Driver 267.76 Notebook)

Steam version. Keeps on popping up with the "Heres your key" window, then comes up with that image, same as OP's.

Specs:
Win XP
ATI 5700 series HD
4GB RAM
Q9550 Quad Core

I also get the exact same issue as the OP, even after a re-install and the latest patch. Again, the steam version.

Phenom II X4 945 2.99 Ghz
ATi Radeon HD 4750
4 GB RAM
Windows 7 x64

steam version again.

I have however found somthing very strange.

I have this issue but if I minimise and re-enter the game then I can move my mouse cursor.

I can also adjust the camera view using Delete/End/Home keys

And I can change the game speed using [ ] keys.

Which is weird cause we havn't even made it to the menu yet :S

Its like its loading us straight into a game with no plane and no mission for some reason :S

EDIT: My friend had the exact same hardware setup as me and has purchased the game through steam but his runs fine. Only difference is hes on 64bit Windows 7 & im on 32bit Windows 7
