Info about online maps

From the CoD manual, page 102.

"If you are creating an online mission, we highly recommend using an online
map. Trying to fly an online mission on a large offline map such as English
Channel - 1940 will take up a lot of resources and may lead to sluggish
performance on slower machines."

My question, as asked many times without any answers, is: is there a way to play online the Channel (or "The Battle of Britain" if you prefer) or we have only "arcadish maps"?
