Default XB360 Realistic Training mission Stuck

Hello all,

Just picked up BOP for the 360 while waiting for SOW to come out and everything was going swimmingly until i got to the Realistic training mission. As it seems that i need to finish this mission as well as the Simulation training mission in order to use this modes in the rest of the game i was very disappointed when for some unknown reason upon entering the realistic training mission no matter what altitude i am at when i reach the first way point location as shown on the map nothing happens???? the instructor continues to tell me to use the all the control surfaces but to go easy and to not yank the stick because this flight model is less forgiving?? i have buzzed the way point at 50 feet and at 15000 feet and it just never progresses or tells me to do something that i am not doing already.. i have tried mashing buttons putting my self in spins getting out of spins crashing bailing out resetting the Xbox and swearing at the TV screen and none of that has done any good it just lets me fly around until i either throw the controller or give up and eat. if anyone has experienced this and can maybe tell me what i need to do i would greatly appreciate it. i am not sure if this was a glitch that gets fixed with a patch but my Xbox is not connected to the internet because i don't do online play so if this is the issue and it can be confirmed that would help as well. thanks a lot for your time

It has been quite a while since I played, but IIRC, isn't there a yellow flag suspended in the air that designates your waypoint? If so, just fly close to the flag. You don't have to hit it directly -- there is some forgiveness. But you must be at approximately the same altitude as the flag.
