Default Problem with starting the game

I have purchased and installed KB Crossroads and it does not work. It flashes the screen twice (enables and disables Aero from what I can tell) and does nothing more. I am running Vista, got all the latest drivers, my graphics card is Radeon 4850.

Any ideas what I might try to make this work? It is a bummer, I have waited for the game.

You should also add what version you are using. Steam? GamersGate? 1C shop? etc.
