multi-player infantry editing

hi guys,i tied to edit the inventory and skills of some troops by using the option = F3 --> F9 --> breeds then i pressed esc getting a text which suggests to save so I accept ,after i save in F2 and F3 (combat.mi) ,i enterd into LAN to try it ,nothing is changed !!
ANY IDEAS ??

even specifieng allies in F9 didn't work ,any tip or remark could help

last but not least i want to try editing soldier and tank skins ,& try to design buildings , any guide for that
