Some people have, Not based on anything definitive that 1C:Maddox has said though. If you want the official specs you will have to wait. Basically, you have two choices: (a) Build a top-spec machine now, in the expectation that it will run SoW (they'd be daft to release it if nobody has a machine that can run it), or (b) wait for the spec, then decide what you need. (b) makes more sense unless you need the PC for other things in the meantime, but it's up to you...

LOL! You don´t let one pass through Tree!

Ctrl-E, the true its we can´t tell yet, and unless that something extraordinary happen we will not get the specs this month, or the next.
In some moment Oleg said that most likely a minimum of 3 gigas of RAM would be recommended, so my advice that you start to think on acquiring a 64bits OS and 4 gigas or more of RAM.

That is as far as i can tell you, for the very little i know.

Here's my idea of these, should be reasonable for about every hardware intensive sim, BoB included:

Buy the highest CPU you can afford, preferably with high freq and/or good overclock possibility, and minimum 3 cores (i'd go for 4, RoF and ArmaII use these, no reason BoB would not). Sims are always CPU limited. I wouldn't go for hexa yet, BoB won't probably at release use all those cores, or at least not efficiently since it's difficult to program for hardware that doesn't exist.

Buy a reasonable GPU for the res you play, for a 22 to 24 inches monitor the "next to best" or at least "best in previous generation" GPU should fit perfectly, maybe even one more down the list should still fit well.

Buy as more RAM as you can afford too, with the OS to use it (64bits), RAM allows to play on big maps, with many different objects (planes, tanks).

Buy a SSD or a 10000RPM HDD if you can afford it, Sims tend to use quite some space, and to load much of it at each play.

All of this is speculation, of course, but 22 years experience with simulators says it should prove quite accurate in the end.

There will be a resource creep with subsequent addons - so it is actually ideal to buy one or one and a half years after release.

Priorities should go to RAM and CPU. The GPU really is an afterthought for flight simulators. Track-IR or a good joystick would be higher priority than an advanced card.

Advanced rendering options are optimised for close range high detail rendering of small numbers of object used in first-person-shooters and not very applicable to the needs of flight-sims.

I think we've been spoiled with IL2. For as long as I can remember (going back to Elite and SWOTLW) I've always been playing with less than the recomended spec's of hardware. It's only been in the last year or two I've got a rig that can handle IL2 at a reasonable level of detail.

Mainly because IL2 has been around so long and has been relativly stable.

Soon I'll be below recomended specs when SOW is released

Cheers

I assume Oleg is struggling as we speak to make all of SOW features work with usable framerates. So I doubt we will see any system specs info until the game is near gold. He may even have to delay some features until systems can take the load. SOW will be continually upgraded as new theaters and addons are created, much like IL-2 had done.

Oleg includes many options to adjust the game to suit your PC requirements. I've always preferred to fly with as many options enable as possible and can afford rather highend systems [atleast in my own mind, not my wifes]. So waiting a year or two after the games release to play the game properly is not an option I would even consider. That said, Oleg won't release a game only playable on these highend systems as it would be financial suicide.

If you build a 64 bit OS System with a 3 gig , 4 core cpu with atleast 6 gigs of ram, and a relatively highend videocard with options to upgrade the cpu later you should be able to turn quite a few options on. A solid state hard drive may also be very helpful.

Waiting a year and half after release,,LMFAO. We've had an 3 extra years and counting to save for this system, but I doubt many including myself have. I know its not a funny matter for those on more restricted budgets.
