Help needed - Im stuck

Im a pretty novice PS3 gamer. I love IL2 but I'm stuck. Both on the "Hornets Nest" in the campaign mode, and "Escort" in single mission mode, I keep failing because I'm "too slow". Ive tried dozens of times on each mission and cant seem to get fast enough not to get this message, even though it feels like Im doing little other than destroy enemies.

Can anyone give me some tips?

Some missions are easier on realistic than arcade, and there were a couple of single missions I had to do on arcade because I just kept getting mission failed on realistic or simulator. Sorry, I can't remember the names of them though - but try changing the difficulty... I didn't do campaign on arcade, and never had any problems though.
