Default Considering Purchase

Missed buying IL2 for Xbox when it first came out so thought I would treat myself for Xmas.

But a bit concerned about frame rate issues I have read about. Can someone guide me as to how bad it is, and is it expected to be 'patched'? Thanks

Check out this thread. I'm pretty that video is made on the XBox version, and if you look for other posts by the OP, he's made quite a few more...

which console?

the PS3 had issues much like the 360, though the fram rate issue seemed to be worse on the PS3 for some reason (could be wrong?)

The PS3 has since been patched and its resolved alot of the issues, though mixed reports are coming in about the frame rates. On the whole though they are not that bad and i wouldnt say they ruin the game in any way what so ever.

The 360 version is yet to be patched but should be happening extremely soon

if you like flying games that are set during WW2 and ffer a little tast of realism (not stupidity like blazing angels etc) then this is a game i would highly recommend.

Stop considering and start purchasing. This is a fun game!!!!! Just the camapign and missions are worth the money. Online is a real blast! The few issues the game has does not detract from the fun at all. Yeah, worth every penny for the entertainment value alone.

Have to agree with FOZ, stay away from Heroes of Europe as well, my friend bought it, and during one mission he collided with another airplane, and ended up with said airplane stuck to the nose of his plane, no ill effects for him. The only way he got it off was by slamming it into another enemy plane. Hilarious, yes, make any sense whatsoever, no.

Welcome to the forum. The game is a blast if you like WW2 flight games. Or are a aviation nut.

+1. I rarely notice frame rate issues and they never persist

Its my game of the year

I bought it on release day and not been off it since. After BOP I played and finished Uncharted 2, Assasins Creed 2, Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising and Modern Warfare 2 but none of these come close to IL2 for me.
I have been a huge flight game fan for years so I am biased but even for casual players this game is a lot of fun. The single player campaign has some great missions but the online multiplayer is infinite fun.
I dont think I will ever tire of seeing the opposition explode when you hit that sweet spot in the engine with cannon fire. Strike is a great wind down after some hectic dogfighting and encourages team play like no other online shooting game. Fighter support for bombers, airspace cover over own targets. Get enough players in there with a nice balance of fighters and bombers and its a flight game fans dream.
Yeah there are some problems here and there but to be honest the good stuff far outwheighs any negatives.
I didnt even mention the three different flight mechanics, arcade, realistic and sim. I havent scratched the surface on sim mode yet and thats 4 months into playing the game.
The game is £30 at retail and probably cheaper if you look around. If it clicks with you then it will be a lot of fun

Unless you have 3-4 flaming bombers on-screeen you will be ok.

Easy buy. especially if you wanted to get if earlier. Patch is/should be on the way.
