Default No Zoom in Custom Layout in Sim mode

Hey guys I want to know have any of you made a 100% custom layout under
the custom section, or the custom pc joystick section, and been able to use zoom in sim mode ?

No matter what button I assign to zoom it doesn't work in sim mode.

HOLD OFF on buying any pc sticks !
Unless you don't play sim mode.
You have zoom in every mode under a custom layout except sim.

Unless someone on here can tell me they are using a custom pc joystick layout and they have zoom.

Yes the problem is there zoom works if you pick a default layout but if you try to assign it, it doesn't work. Hopefully Anton and his team will try to figure this out and let us know.

Gutted! Been working on this since the patch was released but as previously mentioned above, the custom zoom button of your choice will work on the 2 modes where it is not necessarily needed (due to being able to target & padlock) but on the mode where it would be near crucial (Sim), it doesn't work.

Where the pad is concerned, this is a huge blow. The nearest you will get to being able to enjoy the freedom of looking around via the Right Stick without clicking R3, & have the zoom in Sim mode; is default layout 3 but the zoom being on the square button is extremely hard to use when viewing & flying at the same time.
A work around would be to have the zoom on the L3 click button but for some reason, this (or any other assigned button) doesn't work for Sim custom maps.

Really hope this can be solved!!!

Custom layout 4 seems to be my favorite for zoom it is attached to R1.

No chance I'm afraid.

Do you not find the ability to freely & smoothly look around the cockpit important? (a natural & slight movement of the thumb instead of having to jam the stick down then scan). Scanning the skies in SIM mode is the thing you do most!!!

I do see your frustration. I don't think looking at the cockpit is needed and if you look to long your adversary is gone. Normally I only use zoom if I can clearly see my opponent in front me but is a little ways off, then I zoom and fire. If your opponents are so far away that you need the zoom then look at your map to find the direction then head straight for them and then zoom.

Well his No Zoom in sim mode for any custom layout is a deal breaker for me, I'm pretty Bummed about it. I mean common, there are more Sim players on this game then any other ! and they missed this ? WTF !

This may be the last straw for me. I don't know how you can spend all this time making it so the game has custom layouts and not know that you can't use Zoomin Sim mode wih any custom laout ! I have been very forgiving and patient waiting on this patch but Geez this is stupid as all HELL !

I should point out that you can use the dedidated Right stick to view aswell as zoom in SIM & that is with the default pad setting 3 but trouble is, the zoom is set on the square button, making it practibley unuseable when scanning around the cockpit or making a maneouvre. (Needs to go somewhere like the L3, ideal place, easily accessible & not used on default 3 map SIM mode).

Sorry trk. I hear what you're saying but for me, 2nd to the flight mechanics & the guns, the most important aspect of combat flight simulation is the ability to look around with ease. This explains the success of the later Spits & Mustangs with bubble canopies. OK the zoom's a bonus but here on BoP & particularly on Sim mode, it puts you at quite a disadvantage being without it as your opponent will probably be aware of you alot sooner than you are of him.

I still say though that your 1st suggestion (layout 3) is the better so far; for the SIM player (than layout 4). Each to their own I guess. I'm glad ppl are finding the patch a success but for me, the 2 burning issues were screen tearing & wanting a working customizable SIM map & I feel I got neither. And I still can't fly that damned P-51D without it stalling & spinning with as much violence as before, lol. Oh Well!!!
