trapper skill?

How do I get it to work? I assumed that I needed to cast the spell "trap" and have units step on the traps, but I've done that a whole bunch of times and the trapper skill still reads 0/10.

Playing a paladin on hard.

The count only goes up if you kill the unit with the trap, not just hurt it.

also from what I heard Russ version summoned unit doesn't count, not sure about eng version base on the description, will have to test it out.

Some players think it's a bad skill though - a double edged sword so to speak. The traps might hurt your enemies, or they might be dropped exactly where you want one of your troops to go.

there are cases where it's bad, like when I summon heavenly guard right on top of it. However I find it great 90% of the time (as a mage, probably different for warrior), given how predictable enemy melee AI movement is.
