Default What happened?

I've noticed the amount of activity on this forum consistently going down since the game was released.

Has the buzz just died down a bit, or have many people just given up on the game?

Personally I thought this was going to be one of those games that I can keep playing for quite a long time, but if the community's activity keeps falling like this...

Maybe we'll have a rebound after the patch.

I think it is probably normal. When anything new comes out, people are going to be talking about it, playing allot etc. But, as they progress and enjoy the game for awhile, it becomes not such a big deal.. Not that they do not like the game anymore, or don't play it anymore, but the buzz dies out, and it becomes just another game in their library. That would have to be expected. New games come out, and they move on to share time with the new game releases. Any developer, or publisher that don't expect that, is just living in a dreamworld... Maybe the patch will lite fires again, but it will drop again soon after that "new" had worn off. Buy a new car that you love, and before you know it, it just becomes transportation to and from work.. Human nature.

Developers do the same thing. They are pumped about their product, and soon after it releases, and they publish a patch or two, then it just becomes another project on their resume. They quickly move onto other projects...

I still play it allot. When I first got it, I was spending hours at a time with the controller in my hand. But, now, I play a match, take a break, and I may, or may not get back on and play another... I went from playing many hours a day, to maybe an hour a day.. Still love the game, and it is my favorite one at present.. But, just human nature..

Point is, this shouldn't be a shocker to anyone, especially the development teams, and publishers..

Yep. I never expected this game's community to be massive, but the forum and online has been a bit quiet lately. I think people on the PS3 can blame Uncharted 2 for our loss of activity. Two of the people in my squadron have been playing it all the time, and I'll probably get it when I get more money (still going to play IL-2 though ^^)

Lots of good games coming out these days. People will come back when they get tired of them.

Unfortunately, the other two really active members of my squadron are both gone for the weekend for family stuff, so Im effectively grounded for the weekend. I can't stand playing with a team of all randoms. A CTA this morning where both of the other team were kamikazies, and my only team mate would rather dogfight that shoot the guy trying to land, only aggrevated me.

One time, I was sitting on the runway for like a whole minute, waiting for this guy to kill the enemy plane that was landed too, so I could actually capture it. He felt the need to dogfight with the other fighter (this guy didn't even have bombs). After he killed him, THEN he killed the other plane, crashing in the process. By then, the 5 second respawn was up, and I get kamikazied by the newly respawned plane -_-

I don't mind accidentally crashing when you're trying to kill a landed plane, or even making a kamikaze run when you're plane is on death's door and the landed plane's friends are following you down as you go after him ...but blatant suicide killing with a brand new plane just aggrevates me.

Their main kamikaze pilot is not on good terms with our squadron...so I imagine he was just doing it to piss me off.

Multiplay...lacking depth and need more objectives like new maps, reload planes when landing, less bloom so as to see enemy planes near ground, more ground targets...

Hope patch will address most these.

LOWER THE PRICE FOR DLC...greed and lack of support will kill this game real fast!

Too many arcade games/maps will kill any hope for this game remotely being considered a simulation game...sad.

People will start to think this game is just another arcade combat game. And we all know what became of those type of games on XBOX 360....failed!

Its too hard to find a game online at the hours I play. Since you can't join in session, and hardly any are playing anyway, it can be 10 minutes between rounds sometimes, and I get so little time to play anyway I don't want to spend half of it sitting in a lobby waiting

The patch will help for sure, as those who truly care about the kill count have been frustrated (I see why though I just play to play). The cost of the DLC I have to say is nuts now. 400 was debateable, but 800 isn't going to happen. That I imagine will turn people off to it even quicker.

I'm still lurking, waiting for word of a patch, then I'll give it another go (need that low res / hi res model fix so I can see the enemy!).

To be honest a lot of people that I played with regularly, hated the scoring and damage parts of the game. In an average game the credited kills was a third of actual deaths, it drove people nuts. Most said they would be back when it's patched, fixed and fair.

Let's hope the patch comes before another game tempts people to give up and trade it in. Lots of good games about this time of year.
